The Town's U13 Warriors kicked off the 20/21 campaign with an away preseason trip to Collingham FC

A new formation, new roles for individuals gave the boys a new challenge and one they really stepped up to and took on board

In a first half which saw the majority of the game played in Collinghams half of the pitch, the town side created chance after chance calling on the Collingham goalkeeper to make multiple saves to keep the warriors at bay, Sam Hill was causing the defence alot of issues hitting the post twice and being denied by the goalkeeper on multiple occasions but showing how much of a threat he is
A few subs and position swaps had an instant impact when a nice piece of passing football allowed Bret to get a shot away and beat the goalkeeper to give the warriors their 1st 11 aside goal going into half time ahead

More changes and challenges made at the break, Collingham started to gain some traction in the game and it looked like the missed opportunities would cost the towns team when Collingham were awarded a penalty early into the second half which was slotted away to bring the game level

Time to have a look around and see what the boys are made of, the town side didn't let the goal set them back and the slick quick passing and moving style the warriors play to created more chances which saw Sam Rushton give the warriors the lead again from a one on one with the goalkeeper

The Newark Town Boys carried on their pursuit of goals and a corner created the 4th when the ball bounced around and Charlie D was able to get a snap shot away from close range to put the game out of reach

Sam Hill came from the bench to grab the goal his persistence deserved, 2 shots cannoned back off the defenders when the ball dropped to Sam to strike on the Half volley into the top corner

A good day for the lads who were challenged in new ways, new shape, new roles, but the quality of the play shone through and the result deserved
