Champions - Town Win Premier Division

Congratulation Newark on winning the Premier League, Sunday, after an emphatic 6-0 win over Coddinton FC.

Newark started with just twelve players available, unfortunately in recent weeks the team collected a number of bad injuries and after Thursday evenings victory in the Notts Senior Cup final others were a little worst for the wear.

After just five minutes of this fixture Billy Hurst left the field of play with an ankle injury that he initially collected in the Nottingham cup final. Colin Rusby, Town's join manager and at 62 made himself available as substitute and whilst possibly not necessarily the fastest to all of the balls chased on Sunday morning he certainly made a number of good passes that allowed attacking moves to be developed and contributed to this victory.

Tom Perkins, scored two goals and was always a threat to the Coddington defence, for his efforts he was later awarded man-of-the-match.

Some say its like rocking-Horse Lewis Poole hitting the target and some cannot remember when he last put the ball into the net, even though local folk-law suggests he once played as a central striker but maybe it was fitting then with the team winning the league that Lewis Poole actually scored and with a header in the first half from two yards out and in the second half that he should rifle in a 30 yard shoot that was then apparently deflected in as an own goal. Naturally Lewis maintains he scored a brace of goals but his so called team mates wouldn't allow such an outrageous claim . There was also, two goals from the man who always seems to be in the -right-place-at-the-right-time Liam Warner.

Being six points clear with three games in hand now means no other team can displace Town at the top of the league.

Well done Newark for winning the double.

The County Senior Cup Thursday 26th April and the Premier League Sunday on 29th.

Lets us hope players are suitably rested and that some might be injury free when in a couple weeks time you play for the treble and the Willie Hall Cup. The Willie Hall in its 50th year still remains Newark's most coveted of trophies and one that Newark has previously won for the last two seasons.
