Cup Match mania...
A great game of football this weekend. I really enjoyed this cup match. New shape that worked well, and a more daring defensive shape too. It is great that we can experiment like this, obviously with the assurance of jack in Goal who again plays like a keeper beyond his years.
key thing for me was the freedom to experiment as players, having strong possession, holding off challenges and winning the ball back. the link up play and finding space was really good considering this was a rusty first game back after Christmas. Genuinely can't say there was any major concerns, nothing that will not drop in place in time for the league
Work rate.ideas and communication was strong, decisions and decision speed were a bit of the mark but that is to be expect after game time off.
Really enjoyed the link up play goals, Henry Clarke's left foot goal, loved it, loved it! Dex Robinson in flight placed volley was incredible. Ollie Cooper won and took his penalty like a pro.
But a couple of the biggest things for me were how much control we had in a game when Hugh Fox Goddard and Harry Zemontas are in the midfield, holding play up and spreading the play..tracking back was excellent and a deserved man of the match for Hugh Fox Goddard. On top of that was Jimmy Munroe and Ben Andrew, the fact they had the confidence and effort to try new things, experiment, not lose the ball and carry it forward with strength... really nice to see. The training on the Saturday before was all about that... one on one situations and coming out on top with the ball. Brilliant.
Well done through to the next round
Cheers
