Lovely people at Saxalby, polite, welcoming and accommodating... genuinely very nice.
Not sure what they are coaching, but sadly their key philosophy of football play seems to be a pressing hard and fast game. Newark town Cavaliers can play a tough physical game within the guidelines and rules of safe play, but our passing style and strong team shape is what we bring. Safeguarding children from injury is a very important element to Grass roots football. The Cavaliers came away from the game with nothing to show for it apart from two head/face injuries both from kicks with studs, three other players with stud marks above the knee. I do have to thank the stand in Saxilby Manager, assistants and parents who administered first aid to my son, carrying him off the pitch to the treatment room to deal with his injury and staunch the blood pouring from his face.
No after game handshakes were offered by any Saxilby players.
Bitterly dissapointed
