''Fashion Week & its Shut Down'' - Newark Town rhythmically rap it

Disappointingly Club Captain and centre-half Luke Parsons and centre forward Booby Lee were both missing Sunday morning through injury and there was heavy rain at Devon Park but that was not enough to dampen the Town's spirit. A spirit lifted somewhat with the pre-game changing room dancing antics and vocals supplied by Louis Cree, a masterful performance that was followed by a huge cheer from the team and other onlookers alike.

Town dominated the first half with numerous attacks and some notable play mainly achieved by their excellent inter-passing and running off the ball that was exemplified by midfielders, Ricky North, Martin Rose, Stefan Bilyk and Ben Lund that enabled Lois Cree to continue with his dance routine gliding past defenders who seemingly appeared almost mesmerised by his quick step. A number of chances were created but missed but it could of easily have been 5-0.

Goals were scored for Town by Louis Cree on 24 minutes, Liam Warner 34 minutes, and Simon Greenfield a blaster on 41 minutes meaning it was 3-0 at half time.

The second half was a little more fairly balanced with East Bridgeford's centre forward Bassy Okon and shirt number 8 Ben Castell coming to life. It was number 10 Bassy Okon that was to score the first of his brace on 52 minutes after a mix up just inside the penalty area between goalkeeper Anthony Richardson and Simon Greenfield. Both players leaving the ball to each other without apparently the necessary communications. A uncharacteristic basic error that I am sure both players are unlikely to repeat as communication in defence has been superb, to date all season.

On the 67 minute Bassy Okon dribbled at the defence and fired a powerful shot home making it 3-2.

Simon Greenfield, who had another fine game had to leave for an early afternoon engagement and so was substituted by the ever reliable Jay McQuaid who was pushed into a unfamiliar forward position that allowed Ricky North to relinquish his starring forward role to act as a central defender.

So as Louis and his dressing room rap suggest ''we don't care about your isms and schisms'' Well done Lois 10 out of 10 for the rap and dancing and for Ricky North a 10/10 after another commanding game and for beating this week Liam Warner to be man-of-the-match.

Next week gives Town a tough challenge against probably the best team in the Premier League RHP but with the application of the right spirit as was shown throughout on Sunday anything is possible.
