A flurry of second-half goals saw Newark Town fall at the first hurdle in the Central Midlands League Cup at the hands of Keyworth United.

Their opponents took advantage of a reshuffled Newark team to score four goals to book their place in the second round.
Town started the match slowly and found themselves a goal down in the fourth minute. A corner from the right found Joe Byrne completely unmarked to fire in off the bar.
The Blues steadied the ship, but they were indebted to Craig Rhodes, making his first appearance of the season, who made a number of fine saves to keep them in the tie.
Keyworth also hit the post with a Josh Stolworthy effort as they looked to extend their advantage before half-time.
Max King’s first time effort was blocked by the keeper, while Codey Donnelly had the best chance for Newark in the first-half. He was picked out by a long ball from Sam Wilford, but saw his thumping volley beaten away by the keeper.
However for the most part Newark were on the defensive, and were almost caught by a breakaway before half-time, but Wilford tracked back and made a great tackle to deny Sam Wood.
From the corner, Vlad Dadu had to be on hand to clear off the line, and there was another important save from Rhodes before half-time as Newark went in a single goal down.
Keyworth added a second goal in the 55th minute. Goran Seymour, who had been dangerous all evening, was rewarded with a deflected effort that somehow bounced in off the post.
Keyworth were denied by the post minutes later, but they added a third in the 67th minute when another deflected shot from Seymour under pressure from Richard Dadu somehow found its way into the corner.
They finished off the match as a contest five minutes later when Elliot Roulstone found himself in space and drilled a low shot past Rhodes from close range.
Newark did attempt to hit back late in the second-half, with substitute Tom Wilford having two shots well saved by the goalkeeper, but it was too little too late as they fell to defeat.
