The Blues need one more point

Newark Town 3 - 0 Harworth Colliery
The Blues need one more point from next Saturday’s final game at Glapwell to finish the season as champions of the Central Midlands League North Division after picking up three points from their match with Harworth.
The visitors, who arrived with only ten men, pushed Town all the way and it was only in the latter stages that the home side looked comfortable. The visitors had the first opportunity in the opening minute, Henry Alton firing wide of the post. As play moved to the other end, Mason Rhiney’s free kick brought a dIving save from keeper Andy Topham, while Lewis Chambers narrowly failed to make contact with a teasing ball into the box. A risky backpass from James Gardner almost caused problems for Town keeper Harry Haywood but the deadlock was broken in the 17th minute. Kosi Nwobi was brought down in the penalty area by Billy Ball, Ainsley Finney stepping up to score against his former team mates. Harworth were then awarded a free kick on the edge of the area but it was driven straight into the wall. Nwobi then narrowly failed to connect with a long ball in from Lewis, another cross from the striker being hastily cleared as Finney threatened. Chanju Mphande displayed great close control before unleashing a 25 yard shot which passed inches over the bar.
The opening 15 minutes of the second half saw the Blues enjoy plenty of possession but fail to capitalise on it, many crosses and several corners being overhit. Newark doubled the lead on the hour as Mphande took on two defenders before sending in a cross which was returned by Jonny Wiles , Nwobi using his height to allow Chambers to nod the ball home. Harworth then missed a great chance to get back into the game as a burst of pace from Bayley Lowe set up Rio Allen who screwed his shot wide of the post. The visitors were then reduced to nine men through injury. Topham then produced a good block to deny Nathan Arnold who had replaced Finney. Newark were gifted a chance as the Harworth keeper picked up a backpass but the free kick was blocked by the nine man wall. Town ensured the points on 77 minutes as Ben Richards lashed the ball home from the edge of the area to leave the Blues on the brink of the title.
