Two goals in the space of two second half minutes were enough to see Newark Town fall to defeat at Harworth Colliery on Wednesday night.

Tony Joynes made only one change to the side that won their opening fixture against Sherwood Colliery on Saturday, with Sam Bagworth starting in place of Sam Gregory.
There was plenty of pace to the match in the first half, but very little end product, as Newark failed to impose themselves on the Harworth defence.
Longer balls into the heart of their opponent’s half were easily dealt with for the most part, with less emphasis placed on slick, passing football. Newark just about shaded the first half, Calum Fraser’s first time shot which cleared the bar after a Sam Wilford pass being the closest either side came to a meaningful effort on goal.
Wilford did manage the game’s first shot on target at the start of the second half. He had been played through on goal by Jamie Brooks, but the end result was disappointing as his low strike was comfortably saved.
After rarely troubling the Newark goal, Harworth burst into life in the 58th minute, as a weak clearance found its way to Wilkinson, who stabbed his shot into the corner with ease.
Another defensive error allowed Harworth to double their advantage just two minutes later, as Newark were twice unable to clear from their area. The ball eventually flew into the path of Paczkowski, who gratefully nodded in past Riley.
Paczkowski put two more headed chances wide of the target not long after, as Harworth threatened to extend their lead.
Newark were still struggling to find their feet going forward, and eventually resorted to a change in formation to try and change their fortunes.
It nearly worked, with a neat passing movement allowing substitute Daryl Price to find a decent position but he over-hit his eventual cross. Tom Mallinson then proved more effective finding himself more in the attacking third of the pitch, as his long range effort flew dangerously wide of the post. The Blues were at their most threatening far too late in the match to make a difference, as they slipped to their first defeat of the campaign.
Tony Joynes was understandably disappointed that Newark were unable to capitalise on their winning start last weekend.
“To go through a whole 90 minutes and not really register a meaningful effort on goal is very disappointing. Then the two goals we conceded were easily avoidable, you can’t make defensive errors like we did and expect to get away with it.
“We need to see more commitment from the lads for training, and work on things like our throw-ins and set pieces. We need to be sharper for the weekend that’s for sure,” he said.
