After a shaky start, Town produced a solid team performance to come from behind and register their third win of the season.

Alex Hales made his first appearance of the season at right back, with Luke Parsons partnering Will Nelson in the middle of the defence.
Newark suffered an early setback as with just two minutes played Jordan Cummings was adjudged to have brought McCaskill down in the penalty area though the offence seemed to be a couple of yards outside the box. Atkins sent Nathan Burrows the wrong way from the spot. Worse was to follow with 15 minutes gone as the ball was played through a less than solid back line for Atkins to run on and double the lead. The Blues refused to let their heads drop and five minutes later were awarded a penalty of their own as Reece Self supplied Julian Joachim who went under a challenge from Rowbotham, Alex Hales stepping up to open Town’s account. Self, who had an excellent first half, then came close to levelling matters after winning the ball in midfield and laying the ball off to Dom Swingler before accepting the return ball and seeing his shot deflected for a corner. That was Swingler’s last involvement as he suffered a hamstring strain and was replaced by Sam Betts. Newark were now dictating matters, putting together some well-structured passing moves ending with both Nelson and Betts going close. Newark finally got their deserved equaliser on the stroke of half time as Jordan Cummings played an incisive ball to the overlapping Rick Brewer who unleashed a thunderous diagonal drive which flashed past Graves and into the top corner.
Town continued where they’d left off as the second half got underway and in their first attack Brewer collected a long ball forward and shot against the foot of a post. Bilsthorpe were forced onto the defensive as the Blues mounted numerous attacks. On 56 minutes Newark took the lead. Jammy Lloyd was brought down just outside the area and Cummings floated a superbly judged free kick over the wall and wide of the keeper. Three minutes later a Lloyd corner found Joachim in the box, a close range finish giving him his first goal for the club. With the pressure still firmly on the Bilsthorpe goal Betts struck a post from six yards, but in a rare breakaway the home side gave themselves a lifeline as sub Greveson got the final touch in a crowded goalmouth to reduce the arrears. A charging run through the middle by Betts was halted by a last ditch tackle by Grozier, but on 83 minutes substitute Tyler Martin, who injected some pace into the closing stages, drew the defence before playing a killer ball to Joachim who showed his class by coolly rounding Graves and putting the ball into the empty net.
