Town travelled down the A46 to the impressive facilities in south Leicester expecting a tough game against the league leaders. Both sides had to make changes due to players being unavailable over the Bank Holiday weekend. Town started with new signing Bath making his debut, Alex Hales moving to centre back and Ben Sharpe and Lenny Chatonzwa playing in wide midfield roles.
The game was played in bright sunshine and at a fast pace. Town withstood early pressure and with George Asplin playing the lone striker role looked dangerous on the break. The home side looked to attack down both flanks and missed a good chance when the ball was fired into the penalty box from the left but the shot went narrowly wide of the post. Half time 0-0
One minute into the second half George Asplin was substituted with Rhys Harbottle replacing him as the striker. The home side looked very dangerous and Nathan Burrows made a series of fine saves to frustrate the league leaders. This is included a fine save whilst back peddling quickly to prevent a long range lob going in. The opening goal finally came on 57 minutes. Town failed to clear a shot and the resulting cross was headed in at the near post. Again Town managed to defend well against more pressure but still looked lively going forward.
With 5 minutes remaining the referee awarded Town a penalty as the defender kicked a clearance onto his outstretched arm. The resulting penalty was well saved down to the keeper's left but the rebound was followed up by Lenny Chatonzwa to level the scoring. In the closing stages Beckett had an acrobatic shot which went over and after a series of corners to the home side the ref blew his whistle to end the game 1-1.
