Newark Town 4 – 1 Aslockton & Orston
Town’s second match saw them take on neighbours Aslockton & Orston on Saturday. After an even opening spell in which Jordan Thomas struck the bar, the Blues took a 25th minute lead, good interplay between Thomas and Kieran Job setting up Lewis Chambers who netted from close range. George Pearce headed narrowly over the bar before Job added a second five minutes before half time. Keeper Ed Munton then made a superb double save as Aslockton threatened through Matt James. Influential skipper Ben Castell sent a powerful 25 yard shot just too high then Ngoni Dongo put Chambers through, the striker seeing his shot come back from the inside of the post. Newark’s third goal came out of the blue on 73 minutes, sub Matt Stevens blasting home a beautifully struck shot from 30 yards out. The woodwork got in the way for the third time minutes later after Tom Perkins put through Christian Andersen before the visitors pulled a goal back through Matt James. Kieran Job completed the scoring four minutes from time following good work by Kieran Wall.
