Newark Town 2 – 3 Lincoln United
Newark Town made their long awaited return home last week as they played their opening pre-season matches at the YMCA Activity Village
The Blues put on an outstanding display on Wednesday evening against Lincoln United who play their football three levels above Town. A crowd of 220 saw the visitors take the lead from a well struck free kick before Town equalised as a pinpoint free kick from Steve Carty was headed home at the far post by Lewis Chambers. Town went behind on 37 minutes to a Jack Wightwick volley and conceded a third before half time as one of several trialists notched his second of the match. The Blues pulled one back four minutes into the second half as Sam Wilford proved strong in the tackle and put Tyler Martin away, the move finished by Lewis Chambers who lobbed the keeper. Nathan Burrows made some inspired saves for Town later in the game, the match finishing 3-2 to the visitors.
