On a yellowing pitch, Newark soon found their feet, with Jammy Lloyd and Reece Self both enjoying strong performances in midfield.
The Blues took the lead midway through the first half, as Dom Swingler headed past the keeper after a brilliant run and cross from Arron Martin on the right hand side.
The majority of the chances fell to Tony Joynes’ men with Jamie Brooks and Calum Fraser going close before Sam Wilford scored a rare header as he latched on to Swingler’s cross from the right moments before half time.
Understandably, the intensity of the game didn’t match the encounter with Southwell City the previous week, but Town produced some good football to cut their opponents open. Newark looked an imposing unit, Martin scoring the third goal in the 73rd minute after some inspired vision from Luke Hutchinson found him in acres of space. Martin kept his cool to roll his shot into the corner.
Max King had impressed with some confident football after his inclusion at half time, and he grabbed a deserved fourth goal minutes before the end as he latched onto a loose ball before producing a clinical finish.
