In a side showing a mix of youth and experience, the early stages saw the Blues hungrier for the ball forcing their higher league opponents into early mistakes. After initially going wide with a number of long range efforts, Newark’s first chance fell to Fraser, who was unfortunate to slice his shot over after a blistering run down the left by George Paling.
Fraser made amends in the 15th minute,latching onto a Ben Porter through ball. With just the keeper to beat, the striker easily stroked the ball into the corner of the net.
The Blues continued to create chances as Fraser went close with a well saved header, before capitalising on a defensive error only to see his finish slide inches wide of the post.
Tony Joynes rang the changes at half time, offering the younger players a chance to shine. Bourne began to pose more of a threat, but for the most part they were thwarted by a strong defensive display, with skipper Luke Parsons particularly dominant.
Bourne grabbed an equaliser in the 75th minute, as Alex Brockbank reacted first to a knock down before heading past Craig Rhodes.
Despite the setback Newark continued to work hard, and were rewarded with a winner four minutes before the end, as Price kept his composure when through on goal to coolly place his shot past the goalkeeper.
