Newark Town No 9 Lewis Chambers is named Captain for 2020/2021 season

Gaffa Notes:
"With Bridgey and Carty not being around as much this season we wanted a new captain this season and offered it around the squad to see who rised to the challenge, there was a few outstanding candidates but in the end Lewis was the stand out choice. We wanted a captain who firstly leads by example, one who has the respect of his team mates and one that will go the extra mile on and off the pitch for the team and I'm 100% sure Lewis will drive this club forward.

We have named Rhys Lewis as Vice Captain. Rhys and experienced pro who has the upmost respect from everybody at the club will be the perfect understudy to Lewis"

LEWIS: I feel Honoured to be honest, we have lots of great candidates available and for them to chose me is a great confidence boost. Im looking forward to the task ahead and want to do everything in my will to improve club on and off the field. We have a quality squad and all are sound and I know will support me.

2. How did it come about? Did you tell the managment you wanted to be captain this season?

LEWIS: I haven't had any conversations about this with the Gaffa or Any of the management team so when they approached me in preseason as 1 of those who will trial out the armband it came as a huge shock, all I wanted to do is grasp the opportunity with both hands and prove to everyone that I am capable of being a great captain. I have been a leader on and off the field lots of times so am confident in this role.

3. Do you see yourself as the perfect candidate?

LEWIS: No far from perfect, but I feel I can be a great captain for this club, I am very driven and passionate and will do everything in my power to succeed. I see huge potential in this town and club to improve and I certainly will be helping do this. I am approachable for all of the lads and I will be constructive and positive to everyone. I set personal and team targets and I am always working hard on and off the pitch to improve my game and the club.

LEWIS: "Thank you for faith from management team I will put in the hard work and justify your decision".
