Match if the day????

5-5 is a scoreline that tells a story , attack is on top. Both teams looked good going forward but in defence both looked shakey. Playing at 50% of our potential and drawing against a good side like collingham can't be a bad thing . It's something we can work on at training so not to many worries. The game , we scored against the run of play , under pressure we broke through with Finley squaring a ball into Kieron's path who slotted home. We almost straight away gave that lead up with some shabby defending and not dealing with what should be an easy clearance , 1-1 . Again the attack came to life with a good through ball from Kai into Finley's path who shot nutmeged both keeper and defender 2-1. Collingham were not going to give in that much was clear and one of their midfielders hit a screamer from 25 yards ,2-2 . Again we settled into our all out attack , a great build up sent Pete away , another simple ball to Finley who drive in a low cross , this time Kai powered it home 3-2. Again on the stroke of halftime Finley got onto another through ball this time from Kieron , he managed to get in front of his marker and picked his spot , 4-2 at half time . The team talk was to defend a little deeper and to get the next goal , this went out the window within 5 minutes as again mistakes seem to be getting punished by conceding goals , it's something I'm hoping disappears as the season moves along . Well it became 4-3 after the above mistake came and went but the next goal was a joke. The collingham strikers obviously couldn't get used to our high line defending and 99% of the game they drifted into offside positions , this hapoened almost every time collingham attacked and the " equalising" goal was no different , 3cm is up for debate but 3 yards isn't ,a through ball came , our lads held their line and again not one but two players were stood offside, 3 yards , flag went up and the referee who had been barracked by the opposition assistant decided at the most crucial decision he had to make to ignore him , they scored , our lads stood looking what was going on the referee was looking undecided and after a good 30 seconds decided to let it stand , very poor decision as it wasn't even close . The game went into a standoff for the last 10 minutes , both teams seemed undecided on wether to press or stand , Pete attacked down the right and got a good low cross in , finley attacked it along with his marker who had to challenge Fin only to turn the ball in,5-4. That should have been it , collingham pressed with 2 minutes to go , this caused panic in our defence , a needless rushed clearance hit Kai on back of head for a corner , wrong decision making caused a scramble which somehow was bundled over 5-5. The last minute came and we pressed , 3 throwins and we found ourselves with a half chance , the ball was crossed in and was all over the place, Kai had go , Kieron also but the best chance fell to Fin , he hit it well but a slight deflection took the power off it , it rolled to the line but the keeper managed to smother it. Game over 5-5 ,. Fair result really , Colligham had some good chances as did we , kind of feels like we have been mugged after the farce offside decision but things even out over the season so I'm sure we will have some luck soon. MOM was Finley , I give it to Kai who followed instruction to the word and played very well ..
