A surprise visitor at the end of the game

What a wet start to the day still not a full squad again as we travelled to Fernwood for the first time since our tournament win pre-season. I had a chat with the boys at the start and we spoke about previous matches where we lost games we didn't deserve to lose, and that to keep doing what we have been doing. The boys were in good spirit. We started well getting the ball down and passing it around well, we were first to the lost ball and everyone was pressing well. Bang we had gone a goal behind totally against the run of play. But then Clayton broke down the wing to get our 1st goal on 14 mins. Then a ball from the back to Sam Cook who turned and ran at the Fernwood defence pulled a perfect square ball across to Clayton who finished well on 18 mins. Fernwood scored their 2nd to make it 2-2, Clayton got his 3rd hat-trick awesome today. Then Judah broke to get his 1st league goal in town colours. Robbie Nicholl hit the post to prevent us from going 5-2 up in the 1st half. Half-time.
2nd half and Fernwood got a goal back minutes from the restart to make it 4-3. Nathan Rogers made some Brilliant saves today and his reading of the game has improved so much that he is out quick off his line and his strength in his box is much improved also. Judah ran the line great and whipped a ball in but nobody had followed it up. A shot was taken from a deep corner for Fernwood to handle on the line. " Penalty ". Up stepped Robbie who was looking for his 1st league goal of the season, Cool calm and smashed into the bottom right hand side of the goal 5-3.Will T could of grabbed himself a couple of goal if not for the away keeper. Judah could of got a 2nd if not for his self-less play looking for a team mate in the box. Nathan was good in his area dealing with pass backs. Will F, Danny and Ben H played well at the back catching Fernwood off-side time and time again Judah, Clayton, Sam, Ben P and Will T worked their socks off in the middle of the park and Robbie was immense up front. M.O.M today was Nathan. Parents Player was Clayton. Thanks to Richard for running the line (again).

At full time I was approached by an assessor from the Notts FA for charter standard clubs, who had been stood watching the whole game. He commented that the warm up was good, our attitude was brilliant the lads came across good on and off the pitch. All the lads had good playing time. My running of the team was praised and that my manner was good he checked our first aid kit and I must say how proud of the team I am to have an outsider to say that. He said that we must continue what we were doing. Well done everyone, Parents and players.
