Sat 4 Mar 13:00 - Notts Youth Football League - U15s Division 2 Saturday Full time

Away to the league leaders.

The pitch made Devon Park seem like Wembley.

2 - 2

Melbourne Park, Aspley, Notts 4/3/17 13:00

After a morale boosting victory last Saturday Newark Town travelled to Aspley to face the league leaders F.C Cavaliers. with heavy rain the night before the venue was changed from the forest recreation venue to melbourne park.

Arek was unavailable so a squad of 13 players made the journey today today. Head coach Craig M who was in a confident mood pre match opted for Ben S and Jak W on the left with Jaden F on the right and Owen J partnering Daniel K in the heart of the midfield.

Number two Stuart F who has introduced different various warm up routines was soon applauding towns nice neat passing in the opening 5 minutes. the pitch though was not helping matters as it seemed very uneven.

F.C Cavaliers who have 27 registered players took the lead on 15 minutes. town responded with a Sam G effort and a Danny M-T free kick both saved by the home team goalkeeper. But on 24 minutes F.C Cavaliers increased their advantage and it could of been 3-0 but club goal keeper Shaun E pulled off a fine save. Daniel K had a long range effort on 35 minutes saved.

Man of the Match and parents man of the match Rhys D stood up to everything thrown at him today.

Tom W came on for Jak W at half time and town seemed to move up a gear in the second half. A knock on by Daniel G put Sam G through who fired home.

Town's tails were up they seemed more confident in possession so it was no surprise when Jaden F slid the ball for Danny M-T to fire home to the joy of the travelling support.

Samuel K-D urged his team forward as Town could sense victory as F.C Cavaliers discipline seemed to disappear. second half substitute WILL F went on a mazy run but the ball was cleared by the F.C Cavaliers defence... It was a tense last 10 minutes as F.C Cavaliers had a few corners late on but Town held out for a valuable point and it moves Town up to 10th in the league.

A mention as well for our Lino Harry E. Todays ref Beau Watson said after the game that out of all the games he has refereed he has never worked with a better lino, you read the game, keeping up with play and your decisions were all spot on . well done Harry.
