After a two-year break due to Covid, Newark Town Football Club were back in the boardroom recently to host their annual AGM.

Most, if not all organisations and community clubs have felt the impact of Covid and the inability to conduct in-person face to face meetings, so to be back in a room full of people was met positively from all who attended.

The meeting was hosted by the club’s Board of Directors and chaired by Chairman, Chris Wade.

Formally, two AGMs were required to be held and so the sessions were delivered in two parts to cover two seasons affected by the pandemic.

Despite the worldwide lockdown from March 2020 onwards, the club was still fully operational on and off the pitch, restrictions allowing, and for that, club volunteers were congratulated for their commitment to keeping the club Covid compliant.

During this time, the club was also awarded the prestigious 3-star highest accreditation (formerly the FA Community Charter Standard Scheme) by England Football for demonstrating safe, respectful and inclusive player pathways.

The feel of the meeting was extremely buoyant and rightly so, the club has lots to shout about. The Men’s First Team are well placed to win the league and achieve promotion, the junior section continues to grow at pace for both boys and girls with numbers exceeding over 300 and teams increasing on a regular basis, the Ladies team is thriving with a number of recent high profile sponsors coming on board, the Sunday side, Disability team and the recent introduction of Walking Football for both men and ladies, means that every single area of the game is covered. Coupled, of course, with the imminent opening of the YMCA main function building at the Activity Village, the place Newark Town Football Club calls home, the club rightly so has earnt its name and position as the town’s leading football club.

The evening was concluded with a Board Meeting where Directors were re-elected and appointed and upcoming club strategy discussed, including the future of Newark football generally.

Board of Directors appointed for 2022/2023: Chris Wade, Sarah Robinson, David Roberts, Paul Hatherley, Carla Brown, Craig Mountney, Josh Feehily and newly appointed, Rachel Phillips, representing the Ladies team.

For anyone wishing to become involved with the club in the capacity of a member, sponsor, business supporter, volunteer or player, within the senior or junior sections, look no further than Newark Town Football Club.

The future is bright, the future is blue.
