“A massive STEP in the right direction for First Team”

Almost 12 months ago, we announced that ex-professional footballer, Nathan Arnold, had taken up the role as First Team manager at Newark Town FC.

Inheriting a solid and formidable squad, the main factor having thwarted our promotion ambitions the previous season, was the worldwide pandemic.

Fast forward to May 2022 and we could not be more delighted that the team has won the league, but more importantly, has won promotion to Step 6 football. The ultimate icing on the cake following a superb season in one of the most competitive leagues around. Congratulations to Nathan, the coaching staff and all the players.

Having joined the United Counties Football League (UCL1), we now face an array of new clubs, including Harrowby United and Southwell City.

We would like to thank our loyal supporters who we have been able to welcome to our home ground at the YMCA and will continue to do so with the added hospitality and state of the art facilities due to open fully at the Community and Activity Village this summer.

As we go to press, we also wish to announce, that Nathan has decided to test his managerial skills even further and move to a Step 5 team for the 2022/2023 season. He leaves us in great shape and we thank him for his commitment to the players and the club. We wish him well.

Meanwhile, we are receiving considerable interest from potential candidates who have witnessed our ambition to get local Newark football back on the map and who can clearly see the benefits of a club of our calibre embedded at every level in the community, junior to senior player pathway and overall credibility. We look forward to announcing our new First Team manager shortly.

Exciting times ahead for the Blue Army, but for now, a brief break from what has been a challenging, yet thoroughly rewarding season.

The future is bright, the future is Blue.
